Today, Ayhan hosted nearly a dozen folks for the preliminary reading of his musical Gods, which was originally heralded in the 1990s as "Turkey's First Rock Opera." His new version is a collaboration with Wally Wilhoit who wrote book and lyrics, which they have been working on for two years.
The millennial incarnation will be more of a traditional musical, featuring a mythological story of tragic love and a contemporary pop/rock score. Ayhan invited a posse of fellow musicians and creatives for the reading, followed by a hands-on critical analysis of this work in progress. Great stuff.

DeAnna is currently a student at the Berklee College of Music with a concentration in vocal studies and musical theater. She also studied at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music for Vocal Performance and at New York University for her liberal arts education.
Prior to her entrance into Berklee, in 2008, she had the honor of being the opening act for multi-platinum award-winning singer/songwriter and recording artist, David Pomeranz, at a New York City non-profit event.
In the summer of 2009, she sang lead vocals on a song written by Ed Bennett, former CEO of VH1 and MTV, at Bennett Media Studios. The track was a human rights song entitled “Only an Angel Can Save Me Now,” written to raise awareness on the issue of Child Trafficking (please check out the “Adult Contemporary” song in the “Music” tab). DeAnna feels very fortunate to have taken part in this humanitarian effort.
Today, DeAnna’s work entails singing new musical theater works, for contemporary composers -- for workshops and recordings. She was just recently cast as “Tuptim”, a lead, in the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical, The King and I, to be performed at the Curtain Call Theater, in Braintree, MA.

Young Pals Music releases tribute to ABBA’s Frida Lynsgtad, performed by Canadian chanteuse Karine Hannah. Accompanying music video lensed by Christopher Holmes
Karine Hannah’s new single “Frida’s Sonnet,” released by Young Pals Music, is taken from the theatrical production of the rock opera “Swedish Style,” written by Selcen Pamuk and Ayhan Sahin. The two-act musical inspired by Swedish super-group ABBA and their lives out of the spotlight, premiered in Turkey in 1995, with accompanying concerts held in a dozen European venues throughout the late 1990s. The musical is currently being adapted for the U.S. stage for major productions.
"Frida's Sonnet" is the Act One finale, as the musical's protagonist admits enduring feelings for a lover that has since been left in the past.
The 2011 modern adaptation with vocals by Canadian chanteuse Hannah was refashioned into a lush dramatic ballad, while maintaining its theatrical core.
An accompanying music video lensed by Christopher Holmes showcases Hannah’s rafter-raising vocals, set in a fantasy sequence where the singer relives the character’s emotions and dramatic struggle, amid a New York City backdrop and a setting of rich colors. Sahin also makes a cameo in the video. Youtube link for the video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQcuZ7CAPEs
"Frida’s Sonnet," now propelled from the theatrical stage to the world's online stage, is available both in iTunes and amazon.com from Hannah’s second album “Karine.”
